IATA and increased cost of shipping Li-Ion / LiPo batteries

We're asked often about the cost of our shipping and why it is higher than what many of our customers are used to paying when ordering products from other sellers. As of April 1st, 2016, all Lithium Ion (includes Lithium Polymer) batteries and cells are considered hazardous goods and cannot be mailed on passenger aircraft. (see IATA update HERE and a video discussing it HERE).

This restriction adds significant cost as importing, transporting, storing and exporting requires additional certifications, agreements, packaging requirement, extended customs forms, etc. Additionally, there are new limits on how many cells can go in each package and due to the requirement of shipping on cargo aircraft only, we are further limited in our options.

We wish this wasn't the case, but this is the new status of shipping Lithium batteries.
